Energy Vanguard Design combines decades of design, construction and building science experience and knowledge from architect Chris Laumer-Giddens and Dr. Allison A. Bailes III to offer design and consulting for single- and multi-family residential clients that focuses on high performance and sustainability. Our specialties range from efficient floor plans to HVAC Design, and include everything from energy modeling to construction oversight. All services are available either 'a la carte' or as one complete package.
A truly energy efficient and sustainable home requires a comprehensive approach to the house as a system. It takes looking at every component and function of the home, it's surrounding infrastructure and its environment. Whether we're designing for low-income families, net-zero communities, low-rise multi-family projects, or high end single-family homes, we take everyting in to consideration that contributes to performance, function and durability.
At a minimum, our designs meet EPA's Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR (Version 3.0). Meeting these guidelines is a stepping stone to achieving the majority of recognized green building certifications, including LEED for Homes, EarthCraft House and NAHB's National Green Building Standard, MASCO's Environments for Living, and Building America's Builder's Challenge.
