Energy Vanguard's president, Allison Bailes, gave a presentation titled "EEMs & EIMs: The Next Generation," at the RESNET Conference in Raleigh, NC last week. Dr. Bailes gave the home energy rater's perspective on energy efficient mortgages and energy improvement mortgages, and his co-presenter, Geoff Ferland of EcoLend, gave the lender's perspective.

Energy Vanguard received word yesterday that its presentation was selected for the 2010 RESNET Conference to be held in Raleigh, North Carolina this coming February. The title of the talk will be "EEMs & EIMs: The Next Generation."

On Saturday, 7 November 2009, thirteen home energy raters who use Energy Vanguard Energy Ratings as their HERS provider came to Atlanta for the first EVER Raterpalooza! Energy Vanguard's president presided over the day of learning, networking, and fun.

On 1 August and 4 August, EVER certified its first two home energy raters, Mel Laubscher and Eric Griffin, respectively. Mr. Laubscher is the engineer for Haven Custom Homes' plant in Ridgeland, South Carolina, where he has been on the front lines of the green building initiative begun by Haven in 2007. He attained his HERS rater certification mainly to have a better understanding of the home energy rating process as they work with independent raters in qualifying their homes for the ENERGY STAR New Homes label.

RESNET has accredited Energy Vanguard Energy Ratings (EVER), a division of Energy Vanguard, LLC, as a Home Energy Rating Provider (aka HERS Provider). All certified home energy raters must have an agreement with a HERS Provider, who provides them with:

On the first weekend in April 2009, Energy Vanguard taught a class to a room full of people interested in becoming Home Energy Rating Field Inspectors at the Trident Technical College in North Charleston, South Carolina. Twenty three students enrolled for the three day class, in which they learned:

The Best Way to Practice with RESCAZ - A New Energy Vanguard Video

Energy Vanguard has put together an online CAZ training course to supplement the RESCAZ simulation and our in-person classes. For HERS raters who are also certified as BPI Building Analysts, the online course will satisfy RESNET's requirements. The video below is one part of our online CAZ training and tells HERS raters how to make the most of their practice time with RESCAZ, the online combustion safety simulation.

RESNET combustion safety & workscope development training for HERS ratersRESNET will require all HERS raters to be certified in combustion safety and work scope development. All new raters trained in 2014 will need to demonstrate those skills before they can be certified. Raters who were already certified prior to this year, as well as rater candidates coming into 2014, will need to add this to their certification before 2015. HERS raters who are also BPI-certified aren't completely exempt from the requirements but do get a special pass.
